About Us
Mission Statement
To help restore and maintain the health of Cedar Lake and the adjacent watershed, including a reduction of invasive plants and toxic pollutants for the betterment of ecological resources, health, recreational activities, aesthetics, and property values.
Cedar Lake is part of a watershed area in North Falmouth that includes Trout Pond* and a herring run out of the lake into Rands Canal to Megansett Harbor and finally into Buzzards Bay.
Who We Are
In October of 2019, a group of 23 neighbors representing 14 households abutting Cedar Lake in North Falmouth gathered together to discuss concerns about the health of the lake. Since then we have made connections with the broader community and have a mailing list of over 100 people.
Currently, many people cannot access the lake due to the increase of plant material in the lake. Lily pads abound and recent summers have seen algae blooms, sometimes accompanied by horrid smells. Observations over recent years indicate fewer frogs, turtles, and possibly fish.
